The Washington State Department of Health needed two explainer videos about booking a doctor's appointment, and the confidentiality surrounding medical information - for a teenager. The client wanted the videos to carry a friendly, Pacific Northwest feel which star bears as the main characters in the videos. We also had the opportunity to create a boho, paper cut-out style look for the videos, which was a ton of fun to play with.
Working with my producer, we took the scripts and designed storyboards based on the client's scripts. Then, we designed the bear characters in several different styles to give the client four options to pick from. Once the boards and designs were approved, we started rigging our character designs and producing the animation. I served as director, storyboard artist, character designer, animator, and editor on this project.

At the beginning of the project the client wanted to use animals from the Pacific Northwest to be the main characters in the explainer videos. We picked bears to be the animal and designed multiple iterations to represent a teenage bear. The client ultimately picked the fourth version and I redesigned the nose to be more emotive for animation. The final design is on the left.
